Prayagraj: Beginning her first public rally this election season, former Kannauj MP Dimple Yadav has attacked the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party for its “double engine government” claim, saying it looked like one engine got rusted. And the time has come. Remove the “rusted engine”. In his address, SP MP Jai Bhaduri Bachchan also attacked the UP CM for accusing the UP CM of poorly handling crime against women.
Dimple Yadav was in Sirathu on Friday along with Jaya Bachchan to campaign for Samajwadi Party and Apna Dal (Kamerawadi) alliance candidate Pallavi Patel, who is the BJP candidate against Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya.
Seeking votes for Pallavi Patel, Dimple tried to strike an emotional chord with the crowd, introducing Pallavi Patel as Sirathu’s daughter-in-law, Jaya Bachchan as Allahabad’s daughter-in-law and herself as UP’s daughter-in-law. “There has been a confluence of three daughters-in-law in Sirthu,” he said. In an apparent reference to Maurya, Dimple said that ‘Sirathu’s son has betrayed the people’ so now he should give a chance to the daughter-in-law.
Attacking the UP CM, Dimple said that BJP talks about double engine government but one of the two engines has got rusted and the time has come to remove the rusted engine. Dimple said, “The color of rust is like the color of the chief minister’s dress and the rust has to be removed.”
Displaying the promises of the SP manifesto for women, the former Kannauj MP said monthly pension of Rs 1500 for poor women, 33% job reservation for women, 36 thousand rupees for girls passing out from class 12th And 3 free gas cylinders in every household once every year will be a reality. In the 2022 assembly elections, the SP came to power.
Dimple also attacked the government’s claims of providing security to women. He said, “The people of the state have not forgotten the daughters of Hathras and Unnao. The family members in Hathras were not even given a chance to perform the last rites of their daughter as per Hindu traditions. People have not forgotten it.”
Rajya Sabha MP Jaya Bachchan also hit out at the ruling BJP for all its claims of women’s safety. I have been in Parliament for the last 15 years. When they (BJP) were in opposition, they never talked about crime against women. Now he (CM) talks about ensuring the safety of women…” Jaya Bachchan said, “When Amit ji was contesting from Allahabad (now Prayagraj), I had sought votes for my honour. Now I have come again to seek votes for Pallavi Patel and have appealed to the public to maintain her respect.
