UP government will start admission in Atal residential schools; Session will start from 6th July

According to labor department officials, construction of 16 of the proposed schools is almost complete while schools in Moradabad and Bareilly are running behind schedule.

Uttar Pradesh government will soon start admission in Atal residential schools. Children from classes 6 to 12 will be given free education in residential schools named after veteran BJP leader and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Students will also get complete residential facilities. Further, during the Kovid-19 epidemic in Uttar Pradesh, children of laborers and orphans will also get the benefit of this educational facility.

Students have to clear an entrance test for admission to 18 such schools in each administrative division of the state. Uttar Pradesh Labor and Employment Minister Anil Rajbhar said that the session will start in July for class 6. The schools will be managed by the Uttar Pradesh Labor Department.

“Children of parents having e-Shramik card and registered with Uttar Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (UPBOCW) are eligible for admission in the school. Children, who have lost their parents or both due to Covid, are also eligible,” he said.

Only children born between 1st May 2010 to 30th April 2013 will be eligible for admission in class 6 in Atal Vidyalayas. The government has made a provision to admit only two children of a family in schools.

Speaking about the purpose of setting up such schools, the minister said, “The purpose of setting up Atal Residential Schools is to ensure the all-round development of the children of registered labourers. This will help them join the mainstream and provide a better future for themselves and their families.” Special Secretary, Labor Department, Rajendra Singh said, “The schools will work on the lines of Navodaya Vidyalayas and follow the CBSE syllabus. There are about 10 sanctioned posts for teachers in each of the schools. The process of appointment of teachers is going on and appointment letters will be issued in the coming week.

According to Labor Department officials, construction of 16 of the proposed schools is almost complete, while construction of schools in Moradabad and Bareilly is running behind schedule.

Labor department officials said the delay will not affect the admission process. Admission will be done in all 18 schools. We will make separate arrangements for the students of Atal School in Bareilly and Moradabad on a temporary basis, Singh said.

The newly constructed Atal Vidyalaya in the state capital is spread over 17 acres at Sithorikala in Mohanlalganj block. The school was constructed at a cost of 70 crores. School principal Sukhveer Singh said, “The school has an academic block, separate hostels for boys and girls, mess, teachers’ quarters and principal’s residence. The school has all the facilities to provide a suitable environment for learning.” Raghunath Verma, a Lucknow-based mason registered with the UPBOCW, has submitted admission forms for two of his four children.

“I have submitted the admit card of my 11 year old son and 10 year old daughter for admission in Atal Awasiya Vidyalaya. He studies in a nearby private school and is good in studies but his school fees are high. I hope they will take admission in Atal School and complete their education,” Verma said.

In Prayagraj, Atal Residential School has been constructed in Belhat village of Koraon development block of the district at a cost of about Rs 70 crore. The school is located in Trans-Yamuna area of ​​Prayagraj and more than 80 km away from the district headquarter. Singh said that the admit card for the entrance test is available free of cost in the regional offices of the Labor Department.

The establishment of Atal Residential Schools was announced in 2019 by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in the memory of former Prime Minister Vajpayee. Apart from free schooling and accommodation, children will also get free uniform, books and bags.
