UP Phase-II Elections 2022: Polling Timings, Leading Candidates; All you need to know

The second phase of polling has begun today (February 14) for 55 assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh. A total of 2.02 crore voters will decide the electoral fate of 586 candidates in the second phase of UP elections. Of the total 2.02 crore eligible voters, 1.08 crore are males, 0.94 crore are females and 1,269 are third gender. In the second phase, 23,404 polling stations and 12,544 polling stations have been set up.

Voting for the first phase of assembly elections was held in Uttar Pradesh on February 10 and nearly 60% voting was recorded.

According to the Election Commission, the polling time is from 7 am to 6 pm.

UP Phase-II Elections: Leading Candidates

The prominent faces whose fate will be stamped in this phase include Samajwadi Party leader Mohammad Azam Khan from Rampur, Uttar Pradesh Finance Minister Suresh Khanna from Shahjahanpur, BJP leader Baldev Singh Aulakh from Bilaspur. constituency.

Azam Khan’s son Abdullah Azam is contesting from Swar seat. He is up against Haider Ali Khan, who has been fielded by BJP ally Apna Dal Sonelal. Whereas Apna Dal (Sonelal) has fielded Haider Ali Khan, a former member of Congress party from Pig.

Uttar Pradesh Finance Minister Suresh Khanna is in the fray from Nakur assembly constituency.

Other prominent candidates in the fray are Mahesh Chandra Gupta, Minister of State for Urban Development from Badaun and Gulab Devi, Minister of State for Secondary Education from Chandausi.

Deoband, Rampur, Maniharan and Gangoh constituencies in Saharanpur and Sambhal and Asmoli in Sambhal are some of the electoral battlefields in the second phase of elections.

BJP, Samajwadi Party, Congress and BSP have campaigned aggressively in this phase of elections.

The Samajwadi Party has promised in its manifesto that if the party comes to power in the state, it will make all farmers debt-free within four years. Congress has promised to procure wheat and paddy 2,500 per quintal while sugarcane farmers will also be paid on time.

At the same time, BJP said that it is working for a permanent solution to the sugarcane farmers of Uttar Pradesh.

The results of all the seven phases of elections will be declared on March 10.
