Before the commencement of the application process for the recruitment of 26000 constables in UP Police, scores of candidates have raised the demand for relaxation in age limit. The candidates are demanding two to four years relaxation in age limit from the state government.
According to the protesting candidates, the last UP Police constable recruitment was in 2018 and since then, the recruitment drive has not been conducted. During this four-year period, many candidates crossed the upper age limit while waiting for the opportunity to participate in the recruitment process, claimed the candidates.
Generally, the age limit for the recruitment of constables in UP Police is 18 to 22 years. As reported by Live Hindustan, the Uttar Pradesh government last month rejected all such requests and said that no relaxation in age limit will be given for the recruitment drive.
After this many candidates have put forth their demands on Twitter with the hashtag UPPOLICE_CONSTABLE_AGE_RELAXATION.
The candidates stated that their time was wasted due to the COVID-19 pandemic and hence, they were eligible for age relaxation for the recruitment. Citing an example of the recent Rajasthan government giving four years relaxation in age to candidates preparing for government jobs, a candidate demanded similar action in the case of UP Police recruitment.

This year, the recruitment board expects around 20 lakh candidates to appear in the UP Police Constable exam. As per the estimates, 76 candidates are going to compete for each post in the UP Police Constable Recruitment Drive. The recruitment test will be conducted in offline mode through OMR sheet, objective type questions will be asked from the candidates. In addition to this, the candidates will also have to clear the physical fitness test for the final selection. More details will become clear with the release of official notification.
