UPPSC PCS Mains exam postponed due to Kovid-19 to be held in March

Amidst rising Covid-19 cases, Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has postponed the proposed Combined State/Upper Subordinate Services (PCS) Main Examination 2022. The examination which was to be held from 28th to 31st January 2022 will now be conducted from 23rd to 27th March.

According to the official notice, in view of the increasing cases of corona infection, it has been decided to postpone the UP PCS Main exam. This step has been taken after several candidates of UPPSC demanded postponement of main exam citing increase in COVID cases.

According to the students, most of the candidates have to travel to other cities to take the exam. Traveling, staying in hotels amid high Covid-19 cases will put their lives at risk, they claim.

The candidates had also taken to Twitter to put forth their demands. “With the rise in Covid cases and partial lockdown, please consider rescheduling the scheduled UPSC mains exam, which is for a period of 10 days. Many students need to travel to the nearest capital city for writing exams, accommodation and related travel,” said a Twitter user.

In the preliminary examination of PCS 2021, 7688 candidates were declared successful in the main examination. The three-hour examination consists of compulsory subjects consisting of General Hindi and an essay of 150 marks each and four papers of General Studies carrying 200 marks each. In addition, candidates have to attempt two additional optional subjects of 150-150 marks. After the release of admit card in March, here are the following things that candidates must check.

Step 1: Visit the official UPPSC website

Step 2: On the home page, click on the “Download Admit Card” tab.

Step 3: Enter login credentials – registration number, date of birth (DD/MM/YYYY), gender and verification code

Step 4: The admit card of UPPSC 2021 will appear on the screen. Click on “Download Admit Card” button

Step 5: Check and verify all the details carefully

Step 6: Download UPPSC PCS Admit Card 2021 and take a print out for future use.

UPPSC Admit Card 2021: Exam Pattern

UPPSC PCS will be MCQ based and will be conducted in 31 districts across the state. Those who clear the prelims round later have to appear for the mains and then the interview round. The prelims exam will be held in two shifts: 9.30 am to 11.30 am and 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm. The paper will have Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). Paper-II of the Prelims exam is a qualifying paper with a minimum passing marks of 33 percent. The marks obtained in Paper-I of the examination will decide the merit of the candidate. Those who clear the prelims will be allowed to appear in the mains.
