UPSC to conduct Civil Services (Main) exam from today

Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2021 will be conducted as per schedule from today as Delhi High Court on Thursday allowed a petition seeking directions to postpone the schedule of Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2021 till the COVID-19 situation normalises. was rejected.

Earlier on January 5 Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Wednesday announced to conduct the Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2021 as per the schedule. The exam is to be held on January 7, 8, 9, 15, 16.

UPSC informed in a statement that the State Governments are further requested to make public transport operational at optimum level from January 6 to January 9, the date of conduct of the examination, at least one day before the examination. From 14th January to 16th January to ensure smooth movement of candidates and examination authorities.

The UPSC said states have been asked to use e-admit cards of candidates and identity cards of examination authorities as movement passes, if necessary.

The Civil Services Examination is conducted annually in three phases – preliminary, main and interview – to select officers for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS), among others.

The Commission’s guidelines have been provided to all the competent district authorities and venue supervisors to conduct the examination in this time of pandemic.

The guidelines mainly pertain to personal hygiene of the candidates and examination authorities, maintaining social distancing and wearing of masks by them at all times and provision of hand sanitizers at convenient places in the locations.

The guidelines also ask the examination authorities and candidates to carry their own sanitizers in transparent bottles.

The guidelines include sanitization of each venue on a regular basis and two additional examination halls to accommodate candidates complaining of cough, sneezing, shortness of breath, fever so that they can take the examination under proper safety protocols, the statement said. be able to write
