25 people have been arrested after a mob attacked the house of a man who allegedly posted communally sensitive remarks on social media. The police gave this information on Tuesday.
Superintendent of Police Akash Tomar said the violence took place in Khargupur village last night, but it has now been brought under control. He said that a police team has been deployed to maintain peace and order.
Tomar said the post was done on Monday night by Rikki Modanwal, who runs the Chowmein stall. The official said that Modanwal also made some objectionable remarks, which angered the members of the Muslim community.
They attacked Rikki’s house, he said, adding that police personnel were dispatched soon after getting information about the incident.
He said, “A case has been registered against Rikki Modanwal and he has been arrested. Also, 24 people who attacked Rikki’s house have been arrested.”
The SP also said that there is peace in the area now as the police team keeps a vigil.
