Speaking to TOI on Friday, UP cabinet minister and BJP spokesperson Siddharth Nath Singh said, “Yogiraj has put an end to the mafia and goondaraj of Samajwadi Party (SP), paving the way for Ramraj in Uttar Pradesh. This will be the first government construction on mafia-free land. Its importance is because the Yogi government wants to give a message to the public that the days of mafia raj are over in the state.
Singh said, “Now, a popular CM is ruling the state and various lands, which have become free from land mafia and criminals, will be used for the welfare of the poor, which is in my assembly constituency. ” , who is also the MLA from City West, the assembly seat on which this piece of land is situated.
Before being elected as MP from Phulpur, Atiq Ahmed has been MLA from this assembly seat for five consecutive terms. Later, his winning streak was broken by Raju Pal, who contested on a Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) ticket.
However, after Pal’s assassination in 2005, Atiq’s younger brother won the seat in a subsequent by-election.
In the last assembly elections of 2017, Singh won the seat by defeating Ichha Singh of SP with a huge margin.
The cabinet minister further told TOI that the CM had recently announced a plan to build houses for the poor on mafia-free land.
After this, 75 houses will be built in Lukarganj on the land that was freed from Atiq Ahmed and his henchmen. This land was received by Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) last year.
On Thursday, the minister inspected the foundation stone laying site. He said that the Chief Minister would lay the foundation stone and inaugurate many more development works, address a public meeting and may also review the preparations for Magh Mela-2022.
In October this year, the PDA had prepared a blueprint to build a house on the land that was freed from Atiq Ahmed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
Tender has also been issued for the construction of this housing scheme. There is a plan to build houses for the poor on 1,731 square meters of land free from mafia. A total of 75 flats will be built in multi-storey buildings. Each flat will be built in an area of 34.09 square metres.
Community building and park will also be built in the housing scheme. This will be the second project of PDA under PMAY. The first has come in Kalindipuram.
