Prayagraj: Sangam city has set a record for highest number of vaccinations in a single day and 90,696 jabs were given to recipients of all age groups in the district on Monday as part of a special immunization drive.
On Monday, more than 400 sites were vaccinated and Sangam City secured the third position in the state after Lucknow (1st). Sitapur (Second).
With this, the district health department officials have claimed to have given jobs to more than 20 lakh recipients of all age groups by 6th September.
District Immunization Officer (DIO) and Additional Chief Medical Officer (ACMO) Dr. Tirath Lal Told TOI that the department aims to cover maximum recipients in one day campaign and we have been able to cover 90,696 recipients in a single day.
Earlier, a total of 90,483 recipients were administered the jab in a mega vax drive held on August 5, however, he said that we will conduct vaccination exercise in remote rural areas to cover a large number of rural beneficiaries.
In Sangam city, 20,02,517 jabs have been given to recipients of all age groups, which includes 15,88,706 of the first dose and 4,13,811 of the second dose, till September 6.
Besides this, the district health department officials have set a target of giving the Covid vaccine to around 46.10 lakh people, including 34 lakh recipients in the age group of 18 to 44 years and 12.10 lakh above the age of 45 years.
On Monday, 90,696 recipients were given jabs in one day, including 84,217 on the first dose and 6,479 on the second dose.
Moreover, out of the 46.10 lakh people targeted so far in Sangam city, around 43% have been vaccinated against coronavirus. Interestingly, the number of people fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in the city has now crossed the 4.13 lakh mark. In addition, the first dose was administered to over 15.88 lakh recipients.
Meanwhile, a senior health official said, “Recipients of all age groups are very excited to get vaccinated as they continue to wait for their turn in long queues at COVID vaccination sites in urban and rural areas for long periods.” He said, the number of people taking women at the Pink Booth is also increasing because women also do not want to miss any chance of vaccination.
