A man allegedly killed his wife and hid her body in a barrel at Tergaon village near Haliyal in Uttara Kannada district.
Tukaram Madiwal, 38, killed his 33-year-old wife, Shantakumari, and hid her body in a barrel of water for two days. He threw the barrel far into the woods. On Saturday, he told his landlord that he was vacating his rented house. He said that he is going to Goa.
However, seeing the absence of the wife, the house owner and the neighbors informed the police. When the police interrogated him, he confessed to killing and disposing of the dead body.
He told the police that he was upset after some other women complained about his friendship and strangulation. A case has been registered at Halial police station.
