In a performance video that is going viral on the internet, actor Varun Dhawan can be seen lifting Hollywood supermodel Gigi Hadid in his arms. Many Internet users noted that the model looked clearly uncomfortable and reprimanded the artist for her behavior. Owing to the same, the actor has now issued a clarification and said that it was “planned”.
In the now-viral video, Mr. Dhawan is seen inviting Ms. Hadid on stage. He then lifts her up in his arms and twirls her. Later he also plants a kiss on Ms. Hadid’s cheek. Internet users criticized it, calling it “the most embarrassing thing on the Internet”.

Another person commented, “Was it necessary? You may be a celebrity but she is also a guest. Consent applies everywhere.”

The actor responded to a person who said, “If you’re a woman, you’re not safe anywhere with anyone. Not even if you’re Gigi Hadid, who was invited to a party with an “elite” crowd. If done, people like Varun Dhawan will pick you randomly. Getting up and kissing you without your consent in the name of fun. Disgusting (sic).” The tweet has now been deleted.
Responding to the user, Mr Dhawan said the performance was “planned”. He tweeted, “I think today you woke up and decided to wake up. Although many came in support of the actor, others asked him to stop “defending” himself.
