Veteran actor Kamal Haasan will be honored with the Outstanding Achievement in Indian Cinema Award at IIFA 2023.
A recipient of the prestigious Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan, Kamal Haasan is one of the living legends of Indian cinema. Known for his outstanding performances in numerous films – Mahanadi, hero, Indian, Made for each other, Apoorva Sagodhargal, fold, virumandi, alavandhanAnd Ambe Shivam To name a few – Haasan started his career at the age of six in the 1960s Kalathur KannammaWinning the President’s Gold Medal.
He won his first of four National Awards for his performance as a school teacher whose selfless devotion to a young woman suffering from retrograde amnesia leaves her heartbroken in the 1982 Tamil film, Moondram Piraiwhich was remade in Hindi three years later as trauma,
Over the years, he has distinguished himself as an actor, film producer, screenwriter, playback singer and TV host, working not only in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam films but also in the Hindi and Bengali industries. Apart from them, actor-couple Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza will also be honored for ‘Outstanding Achievement in Regional Cinema’ and designer Manish Malhotra for ‘Outstanding Achievement in Fashion in Cinema’.
The main award night will be hosted by Abhishek Bachchan and Vicky Kaushal in Abu Dhabi on 27th May. IIFA Rocks will happen on 26th May.
