Veteran film, television and stage actor Vikram Gokhale passed away on November 26 at a city hospital where he was undergoing treatment. undergoing treatment For the past few weeks, hospital officials said.
Gokhale (77) was admitted to Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital here earlier this month following health complications.
A family friend of the actor told that his body will be kept at Balgandharva Auditorium in the city and the last rites will be performed at Vaikunth crematorium in the evening.
Modi condoled the death
Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled Gokhale’s death and said he would be remembered for the many interesting roles he played in his long career.
“Vikram Gokhale ji was a creative and versatile actor. He will be remembered for many interesting roles in his long acting career. I am saddened by his death. Condolences to his family, friends and fans. Om Shanti,” Mr Modi tweeted.
Gokhale is survived by his wife and two daughters.
Gokhale, an artist equally at home in theatre, television and films, acted in several Marathi and Bollywood films including “Agneepath” (1990), “Bhool Bhulaiyaa” (2007), “Natsamrat” (2015) starring Amitabh Bachchan. “Mission Mangal” (2019). Her latest release is the Marathi film “Godavari”.
