Veteran Congress leader and former MLA Mohammad Ali passes away at 76

He was 76 years old and was undergoing treatment for kidney related ailments

Party sources said veteran Congress leader and former MLA K Mohammad Ali died at a private hospital on Tuesday morning. He said that he was 76 years old and was undergoing treatment for kidney-related ailments.

Ali, who entered mainstream politics through the party’s student wing Kerala Students’ Union (KSU), has won consecutive assembly elections since 1980 and represented the Aluva constituency six times in the House. That all. was also a member of India Congress Committee (AICC) and Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) worked for many years.

Party sources said that apart from serving as the district president of KSU, the leader also served as the general secretary of the Youth Congress and the vice-president of the Ernakulam District Congress Committee (DCC). Ali was not active in mainstream politics for some time.

People from different walks of life mourned his demise.
