Mamukoya, a veteran actor, collapsed while inaugurating the Poongod Janaki Sevens football tournament in Malappuram on Monday evening. A crowd gathered around him to take selfies and the actor complained of uneasiness before collapsing on the football pitch itself. He was brought to a private hospital in Kozhikode and his condition is said to be stable.

Mamukoya began his career in theater before venturing into Malayalam cinema and becoming a prominent comedian and actor. He acted in over 450 films and received two state honours.

There have been rumors that the actor had suffered a heart attack, but there has been no official report regarding the same. He is reportedly in the intensive care unit of a private hospital in Kozhikode.

The 76-year-old Malayalam actor has appeared in the Swiss film Flamen im Paradis. He is the father of four children and has received two Kerala State Honors for Perumazhakkalam and Ennathe Chintha Vishayam.
