video | Chennai better prepared for rain: Chennai Corporation Commissioner

As Chennai is likely to receive heavy to very heavy rain followed by an upper cyclonic storm in the next three days, Greater Chennai Commissioner Gagandeep Singh Bedi says officials are better prepared. After several areas of the city were flooded for almost a week, he says alternative arrangements have been made to pump water at such old waterlogged hotspots. About 800 motor pumps installed in the earlier phase are still in operation. He appealed to the people of Chennai to stay indoors if possible and keep adequate stock of food, water and vegetables. He spoke to NDTV’s Sam Daniels on Chennai’s preparedness, lessons learned and solutions.
