video | Congress attacks BBC over tax “survey”; BJP calls broadcaster ‘most corrupt’

A few weeks after the BBC aired a two-part documentary, “India: The Modi Question”, the British broadcaster’s office in Delhi witnessed a “survey operation” by the Income Tax Department. A similar action took place simultaneously at the Mumbai office of the BBC. Allegedly, the “surveys” of the Income Tax Department were part of an investigation into alleged tax evasion by the BBC. As the news spread, onlookers and media persons gathered at Kasturba Gandhi Marg in central Delhi and outside the BBC office in Santacruz in Mumbai. There were immediate political reactions to the surprise inspections. Congress called this a “tactic of intimidation”. (Video credits: PTI)
