video | Delhi government should control services: Supreme Court

In a major victory for the Delhi government in the drawn-out power tussle with the Centre, the Supreme Court today said that in a democratic form of government, the real power of administration should rest with the elected branch of government. The Delhi government should have control over the services and the Lieutenant Governor is bound by his decision, a constitutional bench of the Supreme Court said in a unanimous judgement.
The Supreme Court said that the Delhi Assembly has been given powers to make laws to represent the will of the people.
