The UK government has strongly defended the BBC in the country’s parliament over tax surveys conducted at its offices in Delhi and Mumbai last week. UK Foreign Office Minister David Routley said, “We stand for the BBC. We want the BBC to have editorial independence and we want to tell our friends around the world, including governments in India, about the importance of this.”
