On Thursday, Vijay Deverakonda took to his Instagram account and shared a heartfelt note for Samantha ahead of her big day. The actor referred to him as a fighter, emphasizing on how he pushed himself to do justice to every shot. Talking about Shakuntalam, the film is written and helmed by Gunasekhar. It is backed by Neelima Guna under Guna Teamworks and distributed by Sri Venkateswara Creations. The film, which is based on Kalidasa’s famous play Abhigyana Shakuntalam, stars Samantha in the lead role of Shakuntala and Dev Mohan as Emperor Dushyanta of the Puru dynasty. Other cast includes Mohan Babu, Jisshu Sengupta, Madhu, Gautami, Aditi Balan and Ananya Nagalla.
The film’s release has been postponed twice. The Telugu film was originally scheduled to release on November 4, 2022. Then it was to be released on 17 February. Finally, it is all set to release on 14th April.
