Veteran actor Vikram Gokhale, who was admitted to the intensive care unit of a Pune hospital yesterday, is not responding to treatment and his condition is critical, his wife said on Thursday.
Actor Vikram, best known for his performances in theatre, television and films, is undergoing treatment at the Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital here following health complications. He is in his early 80s.
I gave my heart, my love The actor’s wife Vrushali Gokhale said in a statement, “Multiple organ failure.” Vrushali said, “Mr. Vikram Gokhale is critical for the last 24 hours. The doctors are trying their best. He is not responding to the treatment as expected.”
Neha Gokhale, daughter of the acclaimed actor, on Wednesday night dismissed earlier reports of his death and told PTI that her father “is on life support and has not yet passed. Keep praying”.
A hospital official said that Vikram was on ventilator support and the doctors were doing their best. A family friend Rajesh Damle told reporters, “The doctors are making all efforts, but there are many complications. We will update you about further medical updates.”
“I appeal to all people not to believe or spread any rumor regarding his health,” he added.
Vikram has acted in several Marathi and Bollywood films, including the Amitabh Bachchan-starrer the path of fire (1990). Her latest release is Marathi film Godavari,
