Violent march of Youth Congress held till Kerala CM’s residence, police lathicharged

A protest was organized on Wednesday in a march by the Youth Congress reservation to the Cliff House, the official residence of Kerala Prime Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The police resorted to a lathi charge to disperse the ladder and left the responsibilities for the water. In Kochi’s Kalamassery, the Youth Congress boycotted the march alleging police high-handedness against its party colleagues. Scores of Congress youths and some of them came to New Delhi after their march turned violent on Tuesday demanding withdrawal of fuel cess and other taxes in the state budget.

Wearing black shorts and holding the party flag, a large number of Youth Congress nominations marched to the outlet and raised slogans against the Left Front government in the state. This is a government residential accommodation and is located in the heart of the city. When the miscreants tried to breach the barricade on a terrace near the official residence, the police stopped them following which a scuffle broke out.

To disperse the anger, the police lathi-charged several times and used water cannons. A Youth Congress worker was slightly injured in the ruckus. The police later forcefully removed the site from the area. Youth Congress workers have been staging a state-wide protest against the employees, showing them black flags, demanding the SRCR announced in the budget and withdrawal of the fuel cess.
