Viral Video: Train’s Journey Across Japan’s “Maple Tunnel” Shocks the Internet

A clip doing the rounds on the Internet shows a breathtaking view of the “Maple Tunnel” from inside the Izan Electric Railway train on the Kurama Line, near Kyoto in Japan.

Shared on Twitter on Tuesday by a user named Taras Gresco, the video begins with a view of the train inside, but the driver turns off the lights before the train enters the tunnel. The stunning colors of maple trees appear in the frame in a matter of seconds. The view of the outer beauty of the magnificent maple trees from the deep interior of the train is truly breathtaking.

The clip was originally posted on Twitter in November 2021 by a user named Minato Fumituki, but is now going viral.
“It’s amazing. To allow riders to better see the autumn leaves, the driver of this Izan Electric Railway train on the Kurama Line has turned off the lights so that passengers can better see this “Maple Tunnel” outside Kyoto. Another reason to love Japan’s rail culture,” the caption reads.

Since being shared, the video has collected over 8.6 lakh views and over 35,000 likes. This post has been retweeted by over 6,000 users. The clip shocked Twitter users, who filled the post’s comment field with lovely comments.

One user wrote, “How wonderful! Much appreciation of beauty and nature! It’s such a delightful amalgamation of appreciating your environment.”
