Vivek Agnihotri calls Oxford Union Hindu phobic: Netizens react

“The Kashmir Files” director Vivek Agnihotri has called the Oxford Union “Hinduphobic”. His remarks come as the union has “canceled” an event of the director, who is currently on a tour of humanity in Europe. Agnihotri threatened to file a lawsuit against him for canceling his programme.

“yet another Hindu Voices have been curbed in the Hinduphobic Oxford Union. They have canceled me. In fact, he quashed Hindu genocide and Hindu students who are a minority at Oxford University. The presidential election is a Pakistani one,” wrote Vivek Agnihotri.

“Please share and support me in this toughest fight,” Agnihotri wrote on Twitter. A Twitter message from the director of “The Kashmir Files” was accompanied by a video in which he explained the situation.

Netizens have reacted to Vivek Agnihotri’s tweet. Some of them called the incident “shameful”, while some say they “side” the filmmaker in this fight. One of the users says he is “ashamed to be an Oxford alumnus”. Another user found the incident frustrating.

One user wrote, “Why are academic institutions uncomfortable with the reality that Kashmir files show?”

Another user wondered if there was any other way they could support Vivek Agnihotri. “Is there an online petition to sign? Or a letter we can send to the local MP?” She wrote.

One of the users asked the filmmaker to leave Oxford and go to Jammu to help Kashmiri Pandits as they are facing difficulties and are under constant threat from terrorists.

Meanwhile, some other users disagree with Vivek Agnihotri. One user wrote that Oxford has a separate department for Hindu studies and has done research on Mahabharata and Ramayana. Another user took the side of the union for not allowing the filmmaker to speak.

“Hate should never be given a platform. He did the right thing,” he wrote.
