Volkswagen Vertus unveiled on March 8: Top 5 things to know – Times of India

Volkswagen India Vertus will officially take the cover off the sedan tomorrow. Volkswagen’s sedan is the first major offering for Indian customers this year. Ahead of the unveiling, here are the top five things to know about the much-awaited Vertus sedan. read on!
Design and Dimensions
The Volkswagen Vertus sedan will be based on the MQB A0 IN platform similar to Skoda slavia and VW Taigun. The recently launched Slavia measures 4,541mm in length, 1,752mm in width and 1,487mm in height and comes with a wheelbase of 2,651mm. The upcoming Vertus sedan is likely to have similar dimensions but a different design as seen in the case of the Kushak and Taigun.
Qualities
The Volkswagen Vertus will have features similar to the Skoda Slavia. On the inside, the Virtus sedan is expected to come with a 10.1-inch touchscreen information display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a fully digital instrument cluster, wireless charger, automatic climate control and an electric sunroof. Other notable features are automatic wipers, rear AC vents, cruise control, auto headlamps and auto wipers. The layout and design inside the cabin is expected to be different from that of the Slavia.
Talking about the exterior, the sedan will get a two-slat grille, LED DRLs and twin projector headlamps.

The Vertus sedan will be powered by two engine options – 1.0-litre TSI petrol and 1.5-litre TSI petrol. The first will make 113 hp power / 178 Nm torque and the latter will make 150 hp power / 250 Nm torque. Both engines will be mated to a six-speed manual transmission, though the 1.0-litre TSI engine will get a six-speed torque converter automatic gearbox and the 1.5-litre TSI engine will get an upgraded seven-speed DSG transmission.
Security
The Volkswagen Vertus safety suite will be equipped with features like ABS, EBD, six airbags, reverse camera, tire pressure monitoring system, rear parking sensors and traction control.
Price and Rivals
Skoda Slavia price starts at Rs. 10.69 Lakh (Ex-showroom, India). Hence, we can expect the Volkswagen Vertus to be priced slightly higher than the Skoda Slavia.
At launch, the Vertus sedan will compete with the likes of Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Skoda Slavia.
