Volvo: Volvo XC40 recharge goes the Make in India way: Launch in July 2022 – Times of India

Volvo Cars India today announced that it will locally assemble its XC40 Recharge SUV in India. The electric SUV will be assembled at the company’s Hoskote plant near Bengaluru, Karnataka. all-electric Volvo XC40 Recharge Will be launched in India in July and deliveries will start in October 2022.

Talking about the design, Volvo XC40 Except for a few minor changes, the Recharge looks identical to its ICE counterpart. Up front, it gets a white-finish panel instead of the grille that houses the Volvo badge and the SUV gets 19-inch alloy wheels with an aerodynamic design.
Inside the cabin, the India-spec XC40 will come equipped with a 12-inch digital instrument cluster, a touchscreen infotainment system, a panoramic sunroof, two-zone climate control, leather upholstery, wireless phone charging and a powered driver’s seat. A powered passenger seat.

Like the regular XC40, the XC40 Recharge is also built on the company’s Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) platform. Except for a few visible markings that indicate its electrical nature, the rest of the elements are identical to the XC40.
The Volvo XC40 comes with a dual-motor powertrain with 150 kW electric motors on each axle that produces 402 bhp and 660 Nm of peak torque. The electric motors are powered by a 78 kWh battery pack that offers a claimed range of up to 418 km. Volvo claims that this SUV can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 4.9 seconds.
When launched, the XC40 Recharge will compete with the Mercedes-Benz EQC, Jaguar I-Pace, BMW iX, Audi e-tron, Kia EV6 and the upcoming Hyundai Ioniq 5.
