“Washed my hair with tide, made coffee with toilet water”: actor Krishan Pereira after release from UAE jail

Bollywood actor Krishan Pereira, who spent almost a month in jail in the UAE after being allegedly implicated in a drugs case, shared a note after his release from jail. She said she has to wash her hair with Tide detergent and make coffee with toilet water inside the prison. Her ordeal came to light in a hand-written message shared by the actor’s brother Kevin on Instagram. Ms Pereira thanked her supporters, saying in the note, “I am just a pawn in this dirty game.”

After I wash my hair with Tide and make my coffee with toilet water, I watch Bollywood movies, sometimes with tears in my eyes, Knowing that my ambition has brought me here and sometimes I smile at my culture, music and familiar faces on TV, I feel proud to be an Indian and to belong to the Indian film industry.

His brother Kevin Pereira had earlier shared a video on Instagram which showed their mother beaming with joy as she spoke to the 27-year-old actor on a video call after his release from Sharjah jail.

“Chris is free!!!” Kevin wrote while sharing the video on Instagram.

Sources said the actor is expected to return to India within 48 hours.

He was arrested in Sharjah on 1 April. The Mumbai Police’s crime branch later learned that the two men had allegedly duped Ms Perera of drugs after a fight over a dog.

Ms Perera, who starred in the Mahesh Bhatt-directed Bollywood film ‘road 2‘, was stopped at Sharjah airport after a memento concealing a small amount of a drug was given to him by one of the accused to be handed over to someone in the UAE.

The police have arrested Anthony Paul, the owner of the bakery, and Rajesh Bobhate, an assistant general manager in a bank, who helped Anthony in framing Krishan Pereira.
