Dhanush-starrer bilingual drama Vaathi was released in Tamil and Telugu on 17 February. It is getting great reviews from the audience and critics. The play is based on one man’s fight to reform the education system in the 1990s. The film has entered the 100 crore club. Dhanush plays a professor who tries to bring about a change in his teaching methods.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, the makers surprised the audience by releasing the full video of the superhit song Vai Vaathi. The music was composed by GV Prakash Kumar while the lyrics are penned by poet Dhanush. And Shweta Mohan has lent her beautiful voice to the song. Currently this melodious song is trending on social media. Dhanush’s fans are sharing this video a lot.

Vaathi is directed by Venky Atluri and produced by Tollywood Studios Sithara Entertainment and Fortune Four Cinemas. Apart from Dhanush, the film featured Samyukta in supporting roles along with P. Sai Kumar, Tanikella Bharani, Samuthirakani and Hyper etc. in the primary roles.
However, Vaathi is the second consecutive Rs 100 crore film for Dhanush after the romantic comedy drama Thiruchithrambalam, which released last year. His other 2019 Tamil film Asuran, directed by Vetrimaaran and Kalaipuli S. Produced by Thanu, it also grossed over Rs 100 crore during its theatrical run.
On the work front, Dhanush will next be seen in the period action drama Captain Miller written and directed by Arun Matheswaran. Dhanush will be seen playing the role of a gangster. The film also stars Priyanka Mohan in the lead role along with Sandeep Krishna, Niveditha, Sathish, John Kokken and Moore.
However, as per the latest reports, the makers are planning to release the film in November.
