In footage released on February 22 from Pausa, hundreds of tonnes of debris from a mountain can be seen rolling down a slope. Although the people present on the highway seem careless. Some of them are standing watching the landslide instead of moving away from the cliff. Amazingly, one of the locals can be seen running towards his minibus to get his smartphone to record the incident. Significantly, the cars and other vehicles on the highway were just inches away from the rock.

Recent heavy rains in the country have caused several landslides to block the national PE-32C highway, according to Peruvian officials. Later, heavy equipment was brought in to clear the area of ​​fallen rock. The Ministry of Transport and Communications provided emergency assistance for the cleanup, while the National Emergency Operations Center (COEN) monitored the situation.

According to the viral press, two miners were killed when a rock fell on them while they were working in the Puno district of southeastern Peru. At least 18 people were killed in landslides near mines in the Arequipa region. There is also news of many injured.
