Watch: Mother dips into 20 feet deep sewage drain to save child who fell inside

A mother in the UK witnessed the most painful moment of her life when her 18-month-old baby fell twenty feet down a sewage drain. The mother jumped inside the drain without hesitation and pulled her child out safely. The incident happened in Ashford, Kent, when 23-year-old Amy Blyth went for a walk with her son, Theo Prior, on Sunday afternoon. The horrific moment was also captured on CCTV installed in the neighboring house and later shared online.

A video uploaded to Facebook by Blyth shows the mother and son taking a walk outside their home in downtown Tenterden. Blyth was seen walking through a covered sewage drain holding Theo’s hand.

However, a few seconds later, the child went back towards the drainage cover to inspect it. At first the mother was not suspicious, but as soon as Theo stepped on the cover, it turned, causing him to fall into the deep gully. As the drainage lid closed on Theo, Blyth swung into action to rescue her child.

He lifted the lid and threw it before quickly going inside the drain. According to Blyth, she couldn’t even hear Theo after she fell inside. “I had no idea what I was expecting when I managed to pull this off,” she wrote in her Facebook post.

Blyth shared that she thought her son was dead, but as she descended into the creek, Theo was standing in the dirt and shouting his name. “It’s noisy torture and I’ll never forget what it felt like,” she said.

As soon as Blyth saw her son, she managed to catch him and get him out safely. Although Theo was rescued safely, the accident left his mother traumatised. Blythe wrote that she would never recover mentally from the incident and that Theo was too afraid to leave her side.

Furthermore, Blyth also highlighted how Nallah was left in a state that could prove fatal to her son. The mother insisted that she would ensure that nothing like this happens again to her son.
