Hundreds of people came together to celebrate the return of a stray dog missing from their neighborhood in Mumbai for a week. Dear Stray Dog, Whiskey was greeted with a Hindu ritual of worshipSweets and flowers, heartwarming footage that has gone viral on the show online.
According to the Instagram page “Street Dogs of Bombay”, Whiskey lived in the Naigaon neighborhood of Dadar in Mumbai, where residents looked after her. On 8 February, the stray dog went missing from Prabhadevi and a hunt was launched to find him. Concerned residents also launched a social media campaign to find the whiskey that lasted a week – until the pooch was found near Wilson College in south Mumbai.
Heartbreaking footage shows the dog being taken back to its neighborhood in a taxi after being found about seven kilometers away. In many neighboring buildings, people waited for whiskey, some hanging on their balconies to watch its return.
The return of whiskey is being celebrated in full swing in a video shared by Street Dogs of Bombay on Instagram. A woman was filmed welcoming the dog with a small aarti, while another man took flowers for whiskey. This video has been viewed and shared thousands of times on social media so far.
“It’s so much happiness and pure love,” wrote one person in the comments section. “It’s very nutritious,” said another.
