Watch: Padma Lakshmi shares her grandmother’s neem pickle recipe

If there is one spice that an Indian cannot live without, it is pickle. It is pungent, pungent, sour and salty. The best part is that it goes with every single meal you make. And I am sure our love for pickles is so high that you must be having containers full of them in your kitchen! Some can buy them from outside and some can make them at home. Recently, celebrity television personality Padma Lakshmi was also seen making some delicious neem pickle. Ms. Lakshmi is a foodie and frequently posts about various cuisines. In her recipe, she shows for the first time that she chose a lemon base about six months ago by chopping up lemon slices and mixing them with sea salt. After a few months, he also added ginger and chilli to it. For the next step in her recipe, Padma says she will roast and grind whole spices like cumin, fennel, cayenne, turmeric powder, and more. Then she heats a pan and pours some oil, and adds in the roasted spice mixture. To this she adds lemon ginger concoction and mixes it with spices! And voila, the recipe is ready.

In the caption of her post, she also informed her followers, “This is a classic recipe for cooked, hot pickles that I learned from my grandmother, Jima. It is very easy to make, but it requires some planning. It takes six months to make a lemon pickle.” Here’s a video of his making Neem Ka Achaar:

This is not the first time that Padma Lakshmi has been vocal about her love for Achar. Just a few days back, she posted a video on Twitter in which she was seen telling how she licks a spoon used for making pickles. She also said that she really enjoys its sweet, salty and sticky taste!
