Watch: Rare sight of snow leopard resting in this Himachal village

Snow leopard is a rare species of wildlife which is highly endangered due to poaching.

A snow leopard was spotted in Himachal Pradesh’s Lahaul-Spiti district on Monday, a rare sight in the tourist-filled Himalayan state.

The snow leopard was filmed resting on rocks in the village of Chichum in Kaza.

The report said that the big cat was caught on camera by Ajay Banyal, Assistant Public Relations Officer in the Government of Himachal Pradesh.

Snow leopards are a rare species of wildlife which is highly endangered due to poaching for their skin, bones and other body parts.

Himachal Pradesh, especially the state capital Shimla, witnessed tourist rush this Christmas weekend. The Meteorological Department has expressed the possibility of snowfall in many districts of the state later this year.
