Two of the best pacers of their time, Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammed Shami, were involved in a bit of a controversy on Twitter after Pakistan’s defeat to England in the final of the T20 World Cup 2022. While Akhtar shared a ‘heartbroken’ emoji after the match ended in Pakistan’s defeat, Shami responded with a ‘Karma’ tweet. While the search for the cause continues, a video in which Akhtar criticized Shami has gone viral.

After the Indian team’s exit from the T20 World Cup, Akhtar shared a comprehensive video explaining what went wrong with Rohit Sharma’s team in the tournament. The Rawalpindi Express in the video even said that Shami should not have been a part of the team’s campaign in Australia.

“India needs to see their captaincy. Management has to take the blame. Bowling department ‘Shami ko uthke le aaye’ suddenly hi. Good fast bowler but not made. (India needs to see their captaincy.) ) The management also has to take the blame. There were some confused selection calls in the bowling unit. Shami was suddenly brought into the team. Though he is a good bowler, he did not fit into the team), Akhtar had said in that video .

Team India did really well in the Super 12 stage of the tournament, winning 4 out of 5 matches to qualify for the semi-finals as Group 2 leaders. In the semi-finals, however, they were comprehensively defeated by England.

For Shami, he had a mixed tournament with the ball, taking 6 wickets in 6 matches. While he did fairly well in the group matches, Shami was ripped apart by the English batsmen in the semi-finals, conceding 39 runs without taking a single wicket.
