Watch the final trailer for The Matrix Resurrection on December 22nd

The final trailer of Matrix Resurrection is here – in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. The new trailer sets out how Keanu Reeves’ Neo and Carrie-Anne Moss’ Trinity — spoiler alert for an 18-year-old film that both died in 2003’s The Matrix Revolution — are back. This confirms the role for Jonathan Groff (he’s talking and behaving like a new version of Agent Smith) and recounts how the story reflects the events of the first film, The Matrix. It’s clear that the new Matrix film is going for a cyclical story that will draw heavily on events from the 1999 original. The Matrix Resurrection is coming to HBO Max (in the US) and in theaters (globally) the week of Christmas.

Morpheus (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) says at the beginning of the new, “We can’t see it, but we’re all trapped inside these strange repeating loops.” Matrix Resurrection Trailer. There are plenty of shots from the first Matrix movie as well as shots from the fourth Matrix movie. Before Morpheus’s voice returns: “But it’s time for you to show us what’s real,” it sounds like he’s talking to the filmmakers. Elsewhere, Bugs (Henwick) says it’s so much—which Matrix fans will read as a glitch in The Matrix—and then adds: “Maybe this isn’t the story we think it is.”

Morpheus then talks about how Neo was deceived even though he knew it was a lie, before Telma Hopkins’ new character repeats what we see in The Matrix Resurrection teaser on Sunday. “It’s so easy to forget how much noise the Matrix pumps into your head. Anything else makes that kind of noise. War.” The new The Matrix Resurrection trailer features a bunch of action shots before Neo talks about how he needs to believe in Trinity this time, seeing as how she believed all those years. We get another glimpse of Neo’s new powers in the Matrix, and Groff appears to be a new version of Agent Smith. At the end of the trailer Trinity is talking about a dream she had, and how it ended up on a terrace in front of Neo, covered in her blood.
