Kohli, who never fails to entertain the audience with his on-field action, pulled an Undertaker on Shubman Gill when the Faf du Plessis-led side was fielding.

Coming back into the match, chasing 169 against Gujarat, Kohli and Bangalore captain Faf du Plessis put on a solid 115-run partnership. Kohli displayed his brilliant batting by scoring 73 runs in 54 balls. He hit eight fours and two sixes to indicate that he had returned to his best.

His eye-catching innings came to an end after Gujarat spinner Rashid Khan dismissed the 33-year-old batsman in the 17th over of the match.

Bangalore skipper du Plessis also made a significant contribution as the former South Africa international scored 44 off 38 balls. Eventually, Bangalore managed to successfully reach the target with eight balls to spare.

Earlier, batting first, Gujarat skipper Hardik Pandya scored a crucial half-century (62 not out off 47 balls) to help his team reach an impressive total. Later, Rashid played a cameo of 19 (not out) off 6 balls.

The defeat did not mean much for Gujarat as they had already qualified for the IPL 2022 playoffs. Notably, Gujarat, playing in their first season, were the first team to secure a playoff berth in the 15th season of the IPL.

Bangalore, on the other hand, are still in the race for the fourth and final playoff spot. He has scored 16 points in 14 matches so far and has a net run rate of -0.253.

Apart from Bengaluru, Rishabh Pant-led Delhi Capitals are also alive in the race for the playoffs. A win against Mumbai Indians would be enough for fifth-placed DC to make it to the final playoffs. He has so far collected 14 points in 13 matches with a net run rate of 0.255.
