Priyanka Chopra may share screen space with Keanu Reeves in the upcoming installment of The Matrix franchise, but she is not the only Bollywood actress with a Keanu Reeves connection. In 1999, Preity Zinta won the ‘Best Female Debut’ award at the Zee Cine Awards for her film Soldier – And it was the Hollywood star who presented her the trophy. A video from the awards ceremony which shows Keanu Reeves wearing a kurta handing over the trophy to Preity Zinta has resurfaced online and is now going viral again.
The throwback video was shared this Saturday on a Facebook page called ‘Indians on the Internet’, and has since garnered thousands of views and a ton of surprising comments. It shows Keanu Reeves being called on stage to present the trophy with his then-bandmates Brett Domrose and Robert Melhouse. Check out the video below:
In 1999, Keanu Reeves was the bassist and backing vocalist of Dogstar, an alternative rock band that was active until 2002. The band performed at the Zee Cine Awards, after which Keanu and his band mates were called on stage to present the trophy. ‘Best Female Debut’ Award.
In August, Preity Zinta shared a video from the awards ceremony on Instagram to celebrate completing 23 years in the industry. “Today I celebrate 23 years in films and I must admit I am a little overwhelmed to think of all the people who have contributed to my journey,” she wrote at the time. She said, “This video takes me back to the first prize I won in the first year of my cinematic journey. I was so surprised that I won. It felt like a dream.”
Preity Zinta made her acting debut with a supporting role in the 1998 film From the heart.., after a role in the box office hit Soldier, She currently lives in the US with her husband, Jean Goodenough, and the couple recently announced the birth of their twins.
