“Female lionesses leave the pride to give birth to their cubs and do not return until the cubs are several weeks old. Adult females then join together to raise and protect the cubs. Solitude During this period, the lioness and her cubs are very vulnerable to predators and larger prey like hippos, buffalo and, like this scene, elephants,” he captioned the video.

On YouTube, the video has been viewed nearly a million times, and many viewers are posting insightful comments in the comments section.

One user commented, “The elephant was patient and gave the mother lioness enough time to go, even letting her two cubs live.”

“Interactions between different species in the wild can be intense and often unpredictable. In this case, the elephant may have seen the lion cubs as a potential threat and attacked them to protect herself or her cubs. While it may be worrying to see these interactions, it is important to remember that animals are simply following their natural instincts and playing their part in the ecosystem,” wrote another user.

A third user commented, “I sincerely hope that the leg of the mother lioness makes a full recovery. It was clear that the elephant only wanted to scare and intimidate them.”
