A wild elephant was filmed chasing and attacking a 30-year-old man in Dhubri district of Assam. The incident, which took place in Tamarhat town on Saturday, was recorded by locals in phone cameras and later shared online on social networking platforms. After falling in the paddy field, the wild animal is seen pouncing on it. According to short video footage shared by news agency ANI, the man can be seen running for his life as the elephant chases him. When he travels on land, the giant animal takes advantage of the opportunity. The mammal grabs it and further attacks the victim with its proboscis and drags it across the field. The wild elephant set foot in Unpetla village near Tamarhat area on Saturday morning.

As a result of the incident, the man was seriously injured and was taken to the hospital for treatment. The wild elephant was taken back to the forest and is still roaming the area as per the locals.

The post on the micro-blogging site captured the awareness of netizens. Several Twitter users alleged that it must have been the man’s fault, adding that the man must have done something to harass the animal before the video was taken. One user wrote, ‘Don’t play with those with a pure heart, it has to pay a heavy price. Another expressed concern saying, “It is very dangerous to watch this scene. The government should do something for the stranded person.

A group of evening tea garden workers at Morongi tea estate were presumed to have angered the herds of wild elephants by incessantly biting them. The elephants started chasing them and while trying to escape, Pascal was crushed by a huge animal.

According to PTI, conflict between humans and elephants has increased in Assam.
