Waterlogging, heavy rain at Terminal 3 of IGI airport as national capital

Heavy rains ravaged the national capital and left the forecourt of Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (Terminal 3). Water logging and affecting flight operations.

IndiGo tweeted that due to bad weather in Delhi, departure and arrival of flights at Delhi airport are being affected.

Due to inclement weather in Delhi (DEL), all departures/arrivals and their resultant flights may be affected, another airline SpiceJet tweeted.

“There is a possibility of traffic jam due to waterlogging due to heavy rains in Delhi. Traveling customers are advised to allow more time to travel to the airport. Thank you!,” Vistara tweeted.

The Delhi airport here said on Twitter that the forecourt was briefly waterlogged. “Our team was immediately connected to look into this and the issue has been resolved.”

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi will be ‘Generally cloudy, with heavy rain/thundershowers, with very heavy rain at isolated places during night time.

According to civic agencies, apart from Moti Bagh and RK Puram, Madhu Vihar, Hari Nagar, Rohtak Road, Badarpur, Som Vihar, Ring Road near IP Station, Vikas Marg, Sangam Vihar, Mehrauli-Badarpur Road, Pul Prahladpur Underpass among others There are sections. Waterlogging was also observed in Munirka, Rajpur Khurd, Nangloi and Kirari.

People posted pictures and videos of waterlogging on the roads on social media.

In a video on Twitter showing waterlogging on roads in Madhu Vihar, some DTC cluster buses can be seen parked in water, and other commuters can be seen plying their vehicles through the submerged road.

Public Works Department (PWD) officials said that the filed workers are on the ground to draw water from the roads.

A PWD official said, “Due to heavy rains in the morning (Saturday), there was waterlogging at many places. We are tackling those issues on priority. Our staff is present round the clock to monitor the situation.”
