WB government has not released funds for NCC camps for 2 years, dues of around Rs 10 crore: Sources

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) in West Bengal claims that they are unable to conduct training sessions for the enrolled youth due to paucity of funds. NCC sources claim that 25 per cent of the cost of NCC training is the responsibility of the state government, however, the West Bengal government has not released funds for the same for the last two years. NCC sources claim that around Rs 10 crore is outstanding.

NCC sources claim that around Rs 10 crore are outstanding in traditional and non-traditional items. In addition, around Rs 10 crore is outstanding for the construction of the institute at Kalyani. The campus is half built.

Cadets who take this training under NCC get B and C certificates. In addition, cadets with higher scores are entitled to appear in the Services Selection Board (SSB) interviews directly, thus the lack of training will affect employment opportunities for the youth.

NCC sources claim that they are trying to work with the finance department of the Bengal government but till now they have not got any green signal for the fund.

In the first week of October, the Commanding Officer, West Bengal NCC, Major General, wrote a letter to the DG NCC in the Ministry of Defence, Government of India. India He said that due to lack of budgetary allocation by the state government, the enrollment has now stopped.

Major Dr BB Singh, NCC PRO for Bengal and Sikkim told News18, “It is a serious issue, they are not allowed to sit for B certificate and C certificate till they appear for this camp. Will go If they get good marks then they can directly appear for SSB interview. The state is not telling us directly why it is not getting the money (for training). I think the CM has not been properly informed about this. Enrollment is happening now.”

Amit Malviya, BJP leader and co-in-charge of BJP in West Bengal, said that “Mamata Banerjee is ruining institutions and destroying careers of youth.” Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, he wrote, “Mamata Banerjee is destroying institutions and destroying careers of youth. Now NCC cadets are suffering in Bengal because WB government has refused to release the funds. Cadets aspiring for their B and C certificate exams, which used to direct them to SSB interviews, will miss the opportunity. ,

West Bengal Finance Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya said, “We have already released the first installment of Rs 20 lakh on October 21 for this purpose. We are yet to get the utility receipt from NCC. As soon as we get the receipt we will next. Will release installments because that’s how the system works.

He said that instead you me me (joke) With regard to the fund, his government is focused on providing employment to the youth.

He said, “BJP should not bother with releasing our funds as we will do so as per procedure. They should look into why the Center has stopped our share of money on various schemes, which is public money and No one has ancestral property.” added.
