Weightlifter Achinta Shuli celebrates Commonwealth Games gold medal win with KFC meal

Returning to India after a resounding victory at the XXII Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, weightlifter Achinta Shuli was seen celebrating his victory over a bucket of KFC at the restaurant in Park Street, Kolkata. Achinta won a coveted gold medal for India, setting a Games record of 313 kg. He lifted 143 kg in snatch and 170 kg in clean and jerk, winning the hearts of the entire nation.

Achinta took to her Instagram to share a glimpse of this special celebration with family and loved ones. Sharing his thoughts, he said, “It has been a moment of utmost joy and pride for my country to win a gold medal. That one moment defines all the years of hard work and perseverance that I have done. I am so grateful. Countrymen, coaches and my best cheerleaders – my family – who have been with me every step of the way. I’ve had a lot of happy moments at KFC. But today is a really special one. I’m on this day with my brother Happy to be enjoying and a KFC bucket.”
