West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) will increase examination hall monitoring for class 12 board exams this year

Around 8.52 lakh students will appear for the West Bengal Higher Secondary Examination starting from March 14. This year more than 50 percent of the total candidates are female students. There has been an increase of about one lakh in the number of students appearing in the examination as compared to last year. West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education is in charge of the conduct of the examinations. Council chairman Chiranjib Bhattacharya said that around 57.43 per cent women will appear in the exam. West Bengal Class 12 board exam will be conducted in more than 23000 centers in the state.

The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) will increase examination hall monitoring for class 12 board exams this year. Council chairman Chiranjib Bhattacharya said the staff will use metal detectors to reduce incidents of fraud by phone or any other electronic means. According to Jagran News report, this is the first time that the board will also use radio frequency detectors to monitor electronic devices in some of the 206 sensitive spots. He said that Malda has been identified as one such sensitive site. Apart from frequency detectors, the examination halls will be equipped with CCTV surveillance.

It is to be mentioned that the candidates are not allowed to leave their seats from 10 am till the end of the first hour of the examination. Besides this, Chairman Chiranjib Bhattacharya said that the government will recruit Group D employees from 7000 higher secondary schools.

Earlier, the Higher Secondary Board Exam 2023 had announced changes in the exam pattern. There will be a single integrated question paper instead of separate question papers for Part A and B. Hence, unlike in the past, it is not necessary to combine the two sections at the conclusion of the exam. The board has announced that a question paper will have both objective and subjective type questions. As per WBCHSE, this time the questions in the exam will be less difficult. Students should format their responses according to the serial number of the question.

WBCHSE claims that views and recommendations of students, teachers and examiners were considered in making this choice. Teachers and students in higher secondary were informed that some components of the question and answer sheets had been changed before making any changes.
