Kolkata: The CBI on Saturday raided several places in West Bengal’s Birbhum district in connection with the violence after last year’s assembly elections and arrested three persons believed to be close to the TMC district president. Anubrata Mandalofficials said.

Three people were arrested from Kankalitala after the CBI raided their homes in the area, officials said, adding that three more people were taken into custody from Bolpur for questioning.
A CBI official said that the three arrested persons have been directed to join the violence in the district after the assembly elections.
“He is very close to Anubrata Mandal. He was directly involved in the vandalism of houses and there are many complaints against him,” he said.
They were taken from their homes to the CBI camp office and arrested after hours of interrogation, he said.
