Kolkata:

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday arrested six people in connection with its probe into alleged speculation in recruitments made by the West Bengal School Service Commission (SSC). A senior official gave this information. He said that those arrested were allegedly acting as agents, were involved with money and were managing their accounts in various schools across the state.

CBI officials said, “We have got concrete evidence from them.” He said that the CBI was interrogating these people for a long time. Several people, including former education minister Partha Chatterjee, have been arrested in connection with the agency.

What is teacher recruitment scam?
It is alleged that the scam took place in 2014. Then the West Bengal Service Commission (SSC) had removed the recruitment of teachers in government schools in West Bengal. This recruitment process started in 2016. Partha Chatterjee was the education minister at that time. In this case, many sites of disturbances came to the fore in the Calcutta High Court.
