The West Bengal government on Wednesday extended the existing COVID restrictions in the state till January 15. The move comes amid growing concern for the new Omron version of COVID-19 across the country.
Earlier today, West Bengal reported its first case of Omicron in a 7-year-old child found in Murshidabad district.
The guidelines issued in the new order issued are as follows:
- All outdoor activities, including movement of people and vehicles, will remain prohibited between 11 pm and 5 am.
- However, in view of Christmas and New Year, the restrictions will be lifted from December 24 to January 1.
- Wearing of masks, maintaining physical distance and health and hygiene protocols to be followed at all times
- All shops, restaurants and bars will remain open as per normal operating hours.
- Between December 24 and January 1, the bar will be allowed to close late.
