West Bengal SSC Scam: A Kolkata court on Monday granted 10-day Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody to West Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee and his alleged aide Arpita Mukherjee, who were arrested in connection with the probe into the school job scam.

The ED had prayed for Chatterjee’s 14-day custody, stating that the AIIMS, Bhubaneswar, after the minister’s medical examination on the orders of the Calcutta High Court, said in a report that no active intervention was required on his health. Is.

Rejecting the minister’s bail plea, special ED court judge Jibon Kumar Sadhu in the Bankshall court here remanded the minister and Mukherjee to ED custody till August 3.

The court, in its order at around 11 pm, directed that the two accused, arrested on July 22, be produced before it again on August 3.

The ED prayed for 14-day custody of Chatterjee and claimed that he was in the government-run SSKM hospital allegedly on the pretext of illness and hence the agency could not interrogate him during the two-day remand granted by the CMM-in-charge court on Saturday. Could.

The agency also prayed for Mukherjee’s custody for 13 days.

The Calcutta High Court on Sunday directed that Chatterjee be taken to AIIMS, Bhubaneswar on Monday morning for medical examination by experts from various departments.

The judge directed that both the accused be medically examined every 48 hours after their custody in ED custody.

The court directed the investigating officer not to torture the accused persons.

The investigating officer was directed that Mukherjee should not be taken for custodial interrogation between 9 pm and 6 pm.
