Bangladesh took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series after beating West Indies by 9 wickets in the second ODI at the Providence Stadium on Wednesday, July 13.

The Tigers looked utterly poor in the Test and T20I series, but put up their best performances in the 50-over format.

After winning the rain-interrupted game by six wickets, Tamim Iqbal & Co played exceptionally well to seal the fate of the series.

Deciding to bowl first, he bowled out West Indies for 108 runs in 35 overs. Barring Keemo Paul, who scored an unbeaten 25, none of the other batsmen in the home team put up a fight.

Mehdi Hasan Miraj took four wickets and broke the backbone of the Caribbean batting. It was difficult for Nasum Ahmed to survive as he picked up three wickets and conceded runs with four maidens at an economy rate of 1.90.

Mosaddek Hossain Saikat, who replaced Taskin Ahmed in the playing XI, got the prized wicket of Rovman Powell. West Indies registered their second lowest ODI score at home.

Tamim Iqbal and Najmul Hossain Shanto shared a 48-run partnership for the first wicket to give Bangladesh a platform in the run-chase. Shanto scored 20 runs before Gudakesh Moti was dismissed.

Tamim, on the other hand, remained unbeaten on 50 with seven fours to help Tigers chase down the target in 20.4 overs.

This win is his 10th consecutive win in ODI cricket against West Indies. The Caribbean team has not defeated the Tigers since December 2018.

The third and final ODI of the series is to be played on Saturday, 16 July at the same ground.
