The RSS chief said that education and health are now part of the basic necessities along with food, clothing and house, people ensure good education for their children, even starving themselves and living in rented accommodation . He said that Western business-oriented ideas about education are prevalent these days, and he considers the Indian education system to be worth “US$3 trillion”. They believe this is a profitable sector and profit can be made by increasing supply, Bhagwat said. However, Vidya Bharati, which runs a vast network of schools in the country, does not talk about profit and works to educate every Indian, he said.

Emphasizing on the right use of education, Bhagwat referred to the Hindu epic Ramayana and said that the demon king Ravana was a scholar and possessed immense wealth, but it is Lord Sri Rama who is worshiped today and taught morality, truthfulness. and is considered a symbol of social behavior. He said that it is ironic that sometimes the importance of education in mother tongue is explained in English also.
