WFI chief ‘ready to face probe’ after Delhi Police registers FIR against him

Delhi Police had filed an FIR against Brijbhushan Sharan Singh following allegations of sexual harassment by women wrestlers Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Claimed that he is innocent and ready to face the investigation.

I am innocent and ready to face the investigation. I am ready to cooperate with the investigating agency. I have full faith in the judiciary and respect the order of the Supreme Court.

The first FIR has been registered under POCSO Act along with relevant IPC sections. It has been filed on the basis of the allegation of a minor.

HT quoted DCP Pranav Tayal as saying, “The second FIR has been registered under relevant sections to conduct a detailed investigation into the complaints given by other complainants.”

Top wrestlers said the protest would continue till Brij Bhushan was jailed. “We don’t trust Delhi Police, They may file a loose FIR against Brij Bhushan,” the wrestlers said about the future of their action.

“We have already given enough evidence and if anything more is required, we will present it not before the Delhi Police but in the Supreme Court. This is not a fight to register an FIR. This is a fight against a person who already has 85 cases registered against him.”

Since a minor is the alleged victim in the case, the Supreme Court bench observed that the minor should be provided protection, but the Commissioner of Police should not come in the way of making an independent assessment of the threat perception of other complainants.
